Michael Bublé's Toddler Badly Burned in Scary Home Accident

Michael BubleWhen there are little ones around, serious accidents are a frightening possibility no matter who you are. Michael Bublé and his wife, model Luisana Lopilato, found that out the hard way this week after their son was rushed to the hospital for severe burns.

Sources say the 22-month-old was injured by scalding water in an accident at the family’s home in Argentina. The boy was rushed to a German hospital in Buenos Aires with serious injuries, but specifics of those injuries were not released. Reports say simply that he’s doing “very well.” Bublé was out of the country at the time of the incident -- he’s currently working in the U.S. -- but he’s being kept abreast of the situation by his wife.

I can’t imagine how scary it must be to hear about your child being rushed to the hospital while you’re miles away. Luckily, the boy appears to be out of harm’s way. Lopilato posted a message of thanks to supportive fans on her Facebook page and stated that her son is recovering and they’re hoping to head home as soon as possible.

It's good news ... and an even better warning to moms to be wary of this all-too-common household danger.

In fact, out of all the potential childhood injuries, burns are some of the most common. According to the Burn Foundation, about 200,000 children are burned each year by contact with hot substances or objects, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Most people have an anecdote about a friend or a family member who was scalded by hot water or something else gone awry in the kitchen.

It seems so easily avoidable, but it happens all the time, often in the blink of an eye. You just never know what kids are going to get into. Kudos to Lolipato for speaking out about something that could potentially raise awareness among parents and keep other kids out of harm’s way. With luck, her little guy will be back at home with his crooner dad in no time.

Has your child ever been burned? What happened?
