Diaz is reportedly taking a whole year off so she can focus on being a wife and having a baby with rocker husband Benji Madden. The pair have been married for five months and their relationship has resulted in major priority changes for the 42-year-old starlet, who formerly said she wasn’t interested in marriage or children.

In 2014, Diaz completed work on several films, raking in about $18 million in the process. She’s had a long, successful career. Who can blame her for wanting to kick back for a while and enjoy her spoils with the love of her life?

Balancing a family life with a successful career is never easy. In fact, the more successful you become, the less time you have for familial obligations. You have to figure out what your priorities are and make sacrifices to keep them in focus. Taking time off to start a family is just as important as taking time off after you’ve had a baby, and I’m sure more people would do it if they had the means.

As much as it sucks to say, we’re not fertile forever. If motherhood is important to you, you have to plan for it and find a way to fit it into your goals. It’s good to see a powerful, successful woman doing just that. Obviously not everyone can choose to take a leave of absence to go make a baby, but if that option is a reality for you, there's no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of it.

Cameron should do what makes her happy. She’s a member of the Hollywood elite, and her A-list career and adoring fans will be there waiting when she gets back. Of course, we’ll be waiting too because, hello -- cute baby pictures.

Have you considered taking time off for pregnancy? How long could you swing it?
