Looks like Baby Sussex isn't the first "Archie" in the royal family. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just revealed that they named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. It's a mouthful, we know, but the funny thing about the Sussexes choosing that particular name is that Prince George revealed it to be something of a nickname for himself a few months back.

Alright, let's recap. Back in January, a dog walker started making polite chitchat with our dear Prince George here, and she asked him for his name.-placeholder

Alright, let's recap. Back in January, a dog walker started making polite chitchat with our dear Prince George here, and she asked him for his name.

Now, obviously, she already knew his name, but let's remember that George is still just 5 years old. He might not know he's über famous just yet. In response to her question, George responded, "I'm called Archie."

Archie?? We've heard of family friends calling him "PG" or his grandfather calling him "Georgie," but Archie is definitely something different.

Because Archie isn't the most obvious nickname for little George, there's been a lot of speculation surrounding the name.-placeholder

Because Archie isn't the most obvious nickname for little George, there's been a lot of speculation surrounding the name.

Some people think it might be for security reasons. Kate and Will may have told George and Charlotte to never give their real names to strangers ... which, you know, makes sense with them being in the royal family and all.

Or it could have just been spunky Prince George doing what he does best. Little kids do like to play around all the time, so the prince could have just decided that day that he liked the name Archie.

And now, months later, we have a new (and slightly more official) royal Archie on the scene.-placeholder

Yup, that's right -- Baby Sussex. Meghan and Harry have yet to reveal the inspiration behind the name Archie, but it's adorable nonetheless. And it leads us to believe that if Prince George's nickname was actually Archie for some reason, then the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wouldn't have chosen that particular name for their firstborn.

Unless ... choosing Archie as their son's name was some sort of snub between the Cambridges and Sussexes.-placeholder

There's been a lot of rumored tension and feuds going on between Kate and Meghan ... and even between the two royal brothers. So did Meghan really name her son after her nephew's nickname -- on purpose?

We doubt it, but it is strange that the name Archie has been brought up in a royal setting twice this year, especially when it wasn't on anyone's radar for possible baby names.

No matter where Archie came from, we're sure Prince George is excited to have a new family member that shares his real or made-up nickname.-placeholder

Here's to the two Archies becoming the best of royal friends in the future!
