Blake Lively's Choice of Godmother Isn't Any Hollywood Actress

Looks like Baby James has plenty of fairy godmothers to call on if need be! Weeks after Blake Lively's co-star Amber Tamblyn said that all three of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars were godmothers to little James Lively Reynolds, Lively is now coming out and admitting that she has chosen someone else as James' godmother: her sister.

America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Tamblyn are not, in fact, the little one's godmothers, but they will play a large role in her life. Lively reveals that she "I never named them my godmothers," she told E! News while promoting her new film, The Age of Adaline. "They're my dear friends. I would say my baby has a lot of fairy godmothers."

Aww... hear that?

They're James' "fairy godmothers!" That may not be an official role, but it's a powerful one, nonetheless.

There is plenty of care, thoughtful decision-making, and dynamics to consider when choosing a godparent for a child. They are, after all, responsible for him or her should anything happen to the parents. It's not a choice that's made lightly.

It's a delicate decision and takes plenty of finessing so as not to upset family members or closest friends. But it looks like Lively has found the perfect solution and middle ground.

The official godmother role is a coveted one, that's clear. But the next best thing is to designate some magical "fairy godmothers" to the child. And that's exactly what her co-stars and friends will be. Sounds like a perfect compromise to us!

What do you think of Lively's choice? How did you choose godparents for your children?
