Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Share First Photos Since Baby Israel's Birth (PHOTOS)

You've got to hand it to Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard. They welcomed their baby boy, Israel David, into this world less than one week ago, and they've already generously given us photos of the gorgeous newborn and regular updates about Jill's recovery—meanwhile, we waited months to hear what name Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds chose for their baby girl!

Derick posted two recent photos, the first since Israel was born, along with a sweet message for fans. But one of the photos is causing quite a bit of controversy.

Considering all of the help Jill and Derick are receiving from her siblings, parents, and Derick's mom, I'm guessing it's easier for them than most new parents to relax after childbirth. Judging by this photo, which shows Jill recuperating in bed, she is happy and well-rested—and looking pretty darn gorgeous, too. I think it took me two weeks after childbirth to get enough blood back in my cheeks so that I didn't resemble a ghoul, but Jill still has that glow:

The jury is still out on whether Jill had to have an emergency C-section, though many are speculating that is the case based on photos that are floating around showing Derick wearing scrubs and Jill with an IV (though I'd argue that detail proves little, since docs stuck an IV in me and I gave birth naturally).

Either way, all forms of childbirth are difficult and tiring and Jill deserves to have this time to rest and get to know little Israel.

Ah, wasn't there another photo I wanted to show you? Oh, yes. This one, which has a lot of people flipping out:

Folks who disagree with this image, which features the flag of Israel and is pretty obviously showing Dillard's support for the Middle Eastern country, say he shouldn't use his baby to make a political or religious statement. I agree that it's a bit tacky, but you guys, when have the Duggars been quiet and subtle about their beliefs?

Whether you agree with them or not, you have to at least hand it to them for being forthright and fearless when it comes to their faith. Many Evangelical Christians believe that Israel was created by God and, of course, Jesus was Jewish, according to the Bible. It isn't a coincidence that Jill and Derick named their baby after a place considered to be the "Holy Land." Why would a post like this shock anyone who has watched 10 minutes of 19 Kids and Counting?

What do you think about Derick's photos?
