Foul-Mouthed 'Game of Thrones' Star Needs a Lesson in Respecting Her Elders

maisie williams Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams is showing her age. The 17-year-old just unleashed an expletive-laden tirade aimed at adults. And for what? Not respecting her. Hmmm, here's an idea: Want respect? Be respectable. (Hint: She may want to begin by not cursing like a gangsta rapper.)

In an interview, the actress who portrays Arya Stark on the popular HBO show says:

People think we're f--king stupid and we don't know anything about anything. It's really degrading. I get a lot of adults who are like, 'You don’t know sh-t,' and it's like, 'You don’t know sh-t. You have no idea what it's like to be 17 years old.

OMG! Moms everywhere, how hard are you laughing right now? Yes, that's right, Maisie, somehow we adults were able to magically bypass the teen years. We went right from grade school to careers, parenthood, and mortgage payments. Somehow one day we just woke up with these wrinkles, stiff joints, and penchants for talking about weather and "the old days."

I'm not saying the teen years aren't often filled with awkwardness and anxiety -- not to mention adults who love a good "I told you so!" But to think that anyone skipped those moments completely or has forgotten them is a pretty immature thing to say.

Also, if this young lady would like to be treated like a respected adult, she might want to begin speaking like one. I don't care how old you are, if I just meet you and you're dropping the f-bomb in every sentence, my opinion of you is probably going to drop pretty quickly.

Sure, swearing can be a great release -- like when you slam your hand in a car door or step barefoot on some Legos. But, generally speaking, peppering your conversations with expletives isn't the way to go about gaining respect.

Plenty of people swear and that's certainly their business, but if my teen really wants me to take him seriously and treat him like an equal, cussing his head off probably isn't the best way to go about it.

What do you think of Williams' expletive-laden rant?
