Ryan Reynolds Is Already Trying to Control His Baby Daughter’s Career

Oh my gosh, are dads protective of their daughters or what? Ryan Reynolds proved to be no exception during his interview with Willie Geist on Today this week. The actor was on the morning show to discuss his role in Woman in Gold, but of course they ended up talking about his sweet baby girl James with his wife Blake Lively.

The parents of 3-month-old James famously didn't reveal her name until just recently, and Geist was very respectful of that. Reynolds didn't mind mentioning it though, saying that the name was already out there in media land.

He also admitted, "I worry that my daughter's going to want to go into show business!"

When Geist asked if he really worried about it, the movie star answered, "A little bit, yeah. You know, you worry about really stupid stuff ... And you sorta sit there and go, 'Oh gosh, is she gonna wanna do this?' I like to whisper in her ear, like, really normal everyday jobs."

What kind of jobs? "You're going to be a flight attendant," Ryan joked. "A barista! Just normal, wonderful jobs that you can have a nice, normal life [doing]."

I'm always amazed at the number of movie star who hope that their kids don't end up in show business. Why do they do it, if it's that terrible? I'm a writer, and I'd be thrilled if my own kids ended up in some sort of creative industry. After all, if they became accountants, what the heck would we talk about at Sunday Dinners? OK, I'm sure we'd come up with something, but I hope you get my drift.

Why in the world do celebs continue to pursue a career that they hope their children won't get involved in? It just doesn't make any sense.

Even with their crazy show biz lives, Blake and Ryan seem to make family a priority. He mentioned that they only work one at a time, so that they can all be together. "That's the priority," he said. "You never cross over -- you never work at the same time. You make sure that we're all together. It involves a little bit of sacrifice, but that's a small, small sacrifice for the grand scheme of things."

Awww, we have stars in our eyes for this family man! His thoughts on breastfeeding only add to our crush. During the interview, Ryan said of his daughter James, "There is no problem that a breast won't fix."

True story, Bro.

Do you think parents should stay in careers they don't want their kids to get into?
