Hilary Duff Reveals the Real Inspiration Behind Her Post-Baby Bikini Selfie

hilary duff bikiniWhen actress and mom-of-one Hilary Duff posted a rather revealing bikini photo last week, people took notice. But surprisingly, it wasn't because she flaunted her beach body, but because of her inspirational words. And now, the star appeared on The Ellen Show and revealed the beautiful reason she posted the picture.

The Younger actress took in a beach vacation with 3-year-old son Luca, so naturally, the swimsuits were the clothing of choice. And who says mom can't be sexy? Certainly not Ms. Duff. Take a look at the photo:

She looks amazing, doesn't she? Major props and kudos go out to Hilary and her diet and workout regimen. That's seriously impressive. But then, the star told us all about her motivation. And it's both true for all moms and exactly what we needed to hear:

Just. So. Right.

Raise your hand if you have an ongoing love-hate relationship with your body. Got it? Us too. There's a constant battle between knowing you look absolutely rockin', and thinking that maybe if you could just fix this one little imperfection, the world would be ideal. But it's time to buck that thought, because Duff can show us how we should treat ourselves.

"I'm so proud of my body and what it's done for me," she says. "It's gave me the most beautiful little boy and I feel strong and powerful and I wanted to inspire other women."

That couldn't be any more true. Face it, moms. Your body is a champion. It's made it through months of pregnancy (perhaps multiple), given birth, and cared for another human being. That's warrior status, right there. So be proud of it. Those are super accomplishments and we should all love our bodies for what they've managed to tackle.

Just recently, blogger Rachel Hollis shared another unconventional mom bikini photo. This time, she flaunted her stretch marks, "saggy belly button," and "permanently flabby" midsection for the world to see. And everyone immediately took notice.

It takes major courage to share a bikini look -- that goes for moms, and other women alike -- and especially bold when you see your own "imperfections." But let these two brave ladies show you exactly why you should celebrate, not shame, your own body!

Would you ever share a bikini photo like this?
