Vin Diesel's Baby Name Is a Sweet Tribute to Late Actor Paul Walker

vin dieselWhen tough guy and action hero star Vin Diesel announced he and his girlfriend welcomed their third child, we all swooned at the sweet reveal. Diesel posted a precious photo of his daughter along with the lyrics to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." Now, as we learn the newborn's name, it's obvious that there was one other inspiration in Diesel's life, because he named his daughter after his late best friend, Paul Walker.


In a pre-taped interview with the TODAY Show's Natalie Morales, Diesel revealed the beautiful tribute:

I named her Pauline. There's no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I knew he was there and it felt like a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world.

There are plenty of famous Paulines -- Cushman, Frederick, Hopkins -- but this one has a very personal influence.

Paul Walker died in November 2013 at the age of 40. He was in the middle of filming Furious 7, with Diesel, when the car he was in crashed and the actor, along with the driver, passed away. Now, the film is due to premiere April 3rd and this role will be his final on-screen appearance.

But through his friend, and his now namesake, his memory will live on.
