Kate Middleton Gives Birth to Royal Baby #2

It's a princess! Kensington Palace announced the news just a little while ago that Kate gave birth to a healthy little girl, and all we can say is: We totally knew it!

Kate and Prince William's new daughter was born at 8:34 a.m. today, and she weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces. Based on the Palace's official tweets, it sounds like everyone is doing famously!

We don't know the baby's name yet, but back in 2013 it only took one day for Wills and Kate to settle on George's name, and they announced it the day after he was born. Right now the odds are that she'll be a Charlotte, an Alice, or an Elizabeth, which would be a nice nod to the current queen.

We know for sure that Harry is excited about having a niece, and we're sure everyone else in the royal family is happy about it, too. It feels like the whole world was rooting for a baby girl ... and looking forward to see if she gets a fashion sense like her mum.

Per royal tradition, the baby's official announcement was taken from the hospital and displayed in front of Buckingham Palace for the public to see. It was also posted on the royals' website and social media, which, while less traditional, is also much faster.
