Gordon Ramsay Gives His Kids Hilarious 'Swear Words' to Use

Chef Gordon Ramsay is famed for cursing up a storm in his kitchen, which is why I was floored to learn an interesting fact about his parenting skills: Ramsay's kids don't swear. How has he managed such a "do what I say, not what I do" feat?

Well, according to his interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the potty-mouthed cook says he's coached his four kids to use "alternative" swear words. Check it out in the video below:

How genius is that? You've gotta love how these alternative swear words are cooking-themed, of course. Like: "shiitake." Or "fructose." Or "asparagus."

More from The Stir: Why I Swear in Front of My Kids

Given I'm guilty of letting some colorful language slip in front of my 4-year-old and aren't too proud of it, I may very well transition to using these "alternatives" myself, and hope my daughter picks them up instead.

I guess the only thing I worry about is the day I serve a dish with shiitake mushrooms in it ... guess that means we'll be "swearing" through dinner. Ah well. Still, hats off to Ramsay for this smart parenting trick.

How do you feel about swearing in front of your kids?
