Kate Gosselin's 'Crazy' Rules for Film Crew Sound Like Good Parenting to Us

Kate GosselinKate Gosselin gets a lot of flack for being somewhat of an uptight mama, and while much of it seems to be well deserved, occasionally there's a method to her madness. Like the list of "House Rules" she apparently handed out to the film crew for Jon & Kate Plus 8.

Author Robert Hoffman published a copy of Kate's rules for her film crew in his tell-all book, Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World. Supposedly intended to paint the reality star in a harsh light, the list actually makes a lot of sense, considering that it is her private home, and she had eight little ones crawling or running around.

There are some common sense rules like not sharing their address or directions to their house with anyone, no smoking or drinking alcohol on their entire property or the road in front of their house, and making sure they pick up their trash and personal belongings before they leave.

It may seem crazy to even have to write things like that down, but it's always better to have clear boundaries and expectations so everyone knows where they stand. You might even call it healthy.

More from The Stir: Kate Gosselin Takes Spying on Her Kids Way Too Far

Another one of Kate's rules states, "No shoes in house or apt at any time. Shoe booties (that have NOT been worn outside!) or no shoes. Period." Dude, I can't blame her on this one. Cleaning floors is annoying as all get-out.

I also understand her bathroom rule, "Approved bathroom for crew use is in apartment. This is the ONLY bathroom for crew usage. (Do not use bathrooms in house please)," and the food rule, "Absolutely no eating/ drinking in our house ... All food/ drinks need to remain in apartment."

It's almost like she doesn't want to clean up other people's messes. Aside from the eight children she brought into the world, that is.

There are some other rules about not messing with the thermostat, closing doors and turning off lights when leaving a room, proper storage of filming equipment, and knocking before entering the home instead of just barging in.

It sounds ... completely normal, if a little bit on the Type-A side of things. Kate has always been bossy controlling strict, with her kids, with her husband (gee, wonder why that didn't work out), with basically everything and everyone -- why would the film crew from TLC be any different.

Her rules are all about keeping the environment where she raises eight children as neat, ordered, and safe as possible. There may be many reasons not to care for Kate Gosselin, but her "crazy" film crew rules probably shouldn't be one of them.

Do you think Kate's rules for filming are over the top?
