Scarlett Johansson's Pixie Cut: Is Pregnancy to Blame?

Scarlett JohansoonPerennially gorgeous actress Scarlett Johansson has apparently let her pregnancy go to her head -- literally. The star of Lucy showed off her new super-short 'do while strolling through New York City Tuesday afternoon with her fiance and baby daddy, Romain Dauriac.

The 29-year-old, who is expecting her first child in August, already chopped her signature blonde mane in June but wasn't content to stop there. Her new, even shorter pixie-style cut has me wondering if maybe pregnancy hormones are to blame, because, Scarlett, honey, I've been there.

When I was expecting my first child, I, too, thought it might be fun to change up my look. After finding a photo of the stunning Candice Bergen with a short but stylish haircut in Vogue, I all but begged my stylist to replicate it.

Now there are so many problems with this scenario: A) I don't have the gloriously high cheekbones of Candice Bergen; B) I don't have the lustrous locks of Candice Bergen; C) I don't have a personal hairstylist who would be on call to prevent my newly shorn tresses from devolving into a mullet as they grew out; and, lastly, D) no amount of product could fix A through C.

So, what did I do when I realized my mistake on Day 2 of my new 'do? I found a baseball cap and wore the heck out of it until I could cobble together a meager ponytail and try to put the whole episode in my rearview.

I know ScarJo and I aren't alone. My neighbor, a mom of four, lobs off inches of her hair after each pregnancy and almost always regrets it. Yet she swears she'd probably do it again if she has baby #5. Why? Blame it on the hormones!

Another concern about the new punky hairstyle the former Mrs. Ryan Reynolds is rockin' is the fact that it looks bleached and dyed -- something many find a questionable choice during pregnancy.

What do you think of Scarlett Johansson's new hairstyle? Has pregnancy ever made you do crazy things to your hair?
