Katie Holmes Won't Let a Man Get Between Her & Suri

Katie Holmes, Suri CruiseKatie Holmes has laid notoriously low on the dating scene since her split from Tom Cruise in 2012, and we can't necessarily say we blame her. Was that a hawt mess or what? But as any divorced mom can admit after a failed marriage -- at least she got a great kid out of it.

The Dawson's Creek star recently opened up to Glamour magazine about motherhood and dating, and why she doesn't feel the need for a man in her life right now. It seems as though Katie is really focused on Suri and her own ambitions, and she's loving every minute of it.

When asked about the idea of dating, the single mom said, "I am really focused on motherhood and work right now." She continued, "Motherhood is the greatest gift ... when I became a mother, my life completely changed."

She joked about one of the biggest changes being the types of movies she sees. "I've seen Frozen a lot," she admitted. As have we all, sistah. (Do you wanna build a snowman? Good luck getting that out of your head now.)

Getting back to seriousness, the 35-year-old star said, "But the biggest change? I think you don't know -- I didn't know how much love I had in me. It's overwhelming. Every day I discover more about this spectacular human being I get to be the mother of."

That is so awesome. And it makes sense why she's not dating. I mean, we all know very highly suspect (and would be willing to bet money on it) that she sprinted out of her marriage with Tom Cruise to protect Suri from Scientology. That little girl is obviously her number one priority, and she's not about to let a man interfere with that relationship.

Besides, after years of probably feeling nervous about Tom's religion and fearing losing Suri (Nicole Kidman's kids stayed with Tom after that divorce, allegedly because they were already enmeshed in the cult church), this mom is just enjoying the simple pleasures of being a hands-on mom.

She has the kid-food thing down pat too. "Plain pasta with butter is a hit," she said. "Chocolate-chip pancakes are a hit -- together with chocolate-chip cookies. I do a homemade chicken finger. That's a hit."

A fantastic daughter, a flourishing career, and homemade chicken fingers and chocolate chip pancakes? Why interfere with any of that to find a man? Katie's absolutely making the right choice to focus on Suri and herself instead of dating.

Do you think single moms should focus more on their kids than dating?
