Nicole Kidman Reveals Why She Let Tom Cruise Have Their Kids

nicole kidmanNicole Kidman has always been all about family. Most recently, she's even said that she would give up acting, "no questions," if her husband, Keith Urban, asked. And while she's promoting her new movie, Grace of Monaco, Kidman has finally given us a few intimate details into her relationship with her two oldest children, Isabella, 21, and Connor, 19, whom she adopted with ex-hubby Tom Cruise.

"They are generous, kind, and hardworking," she told Women's World. "And these are traits that I love to see in my children."

Years ago, she admitted that her children live full-time with Tom and that it was entirely their choice. They're both now adults (Isabella is an aspiring artist and Connor is a DJ), practicing Scientologists, and haven't been photographed with their mom since 2007.

While they live with Cruise in California, Kidman lives in Australia and Nashville with Urban and their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 5, and Faith Margaret, 3. But while Kidman has constantly been seen out and about with her two youngest daughters, it seems like her relationship with her eldest two has been a little strained, especially after the divorce. Although it's clear that she's super proud of how her kids have grown up, and of the adults they've become, it's shocking to see that they haven't spent much time together in the past several years.

Children of divorced parents might be given the decision on who they would like to live with, and Isabella and Connor made theirs. Even when both of their parents went on to marry again and have more kids (Cruise with Katie Holmes and Kidman with Urban), they continued to stay with their father.

But the decision isn't easy. And most of all, it's on the parents to make sure that the eldest kids feel comfortable with the expanding families. While the exes may go on to have more kids, it's so important to integrate the whole family and remember that divorce does not change a relationship with the children.
