Kendra Wilkinson Gives Baby Girl a Boy's Name

kendra wilkinson baskett head shotKendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett welcomed their baby girl on May 16, but it wasn't until last night that her daughter's name was released. While she definitely went the more traditional route with her son, Hank, who is named after his father, her little girl's name feels a bit more out of left field.

Without further ado, the name we've all been waiting for is (drum roll, please!) ...

Alijah Mary Baskett, according to TMZ, which reportedly obtained her birth certificate. Though it may bring to mind the late R&B singer Aaliyah, it's actually a form of the Hebrew, biblical name Elijah, which means "the Lord is my God." And it bears noting that Elijah is very much a masculine name historically.

Not all that surprising, considering that Kendra told People of the names she had been considering:

They’re all unisex names, names that could be for boys — that are meant for a boy — but could be for a girl.

So, the move was solidly "on-trend"! (See: Drew Barrymore's newborn Frankie and Jessica Simpson's daughter Maxwell.) But with Elijah being such a traditionally male name, it almost takes the unisex trend to a whole new level!

Still, pairing it with Mary adds a lovely feminine twist. Who knows if she may actually end up going by Mary? Or Ali? My hunch is on the latter. Either way, happy, exciting times for the Baskett brood! Can't wait to see the first pic of little Alijah.

What do you think about Kendra's baby's name?
