In her new book The Kind Mama, Alicia Silverstone explains how she came to her personal decision not to circumcise her son Bear, despite being raised Jewish. "My thinking was: If little boys were supposed to have their penises 'fixed,' did that mean we were saying that God made the body imperfect? He made all this incredible stuff, and then he just happened to make the penis wrong?" The reaction to her confession has been positive, Alicia said in a recent exclusive interview with The Stir, explaining how fans have approached her at book signings to thank her for writing about it. "One said that 17 years ago she had her son, and she made this choice, and she was crying, because she was remembering her experience. It was moving to me."

  • 2. Howard Stern

Howard Stern may be father to three daughters, but it's clear that if he had a son, he would not be circumcised. The "shock jock" has been very vocally anti-circumcision, saying in a 2011 satellite radio interview, "Men should not be circumcised. ... I don’t know where this circumcision came from, some people feel it’s a religious thing, it’s about health, it’s about cutting off the foreskin makes your penis less likely to get cancer. There’s been all kinds of myths. I think it’s nonsense. That if you’re born that way, it seems to me it’s a mutilation to cut it off. The same way in Africa they sometimes cut off a woman’s clitoris, and they think that’s justified."

  • 3. Russell Brand

Russell Brand isn't a dad, but if he had a baby boy with ex-wife Katy Perry, it's clear where he would've stood on a circumcision. In an interview with Howard Stern in 2012, he said, "We don't do it in England. It's just more like, people don't worry about it. They just, they just let it go, that sort of thing. ... It's a bit unfair, isn't it, to do that to babies? I mean, you're alive a little while, start chopping bits of his d*** off. I don't think God cares about that. He's got a lot on."

  • 4. Mario Lopez

In 2010, on the VH1 reality show Saved by the Baby, Mario Lopez said that if he and his then-girlfriend now-wife Courtney Mazza had a baby boy, the baby would not be circumcised. “That’s not up for discussion,” he said. “News flash, this is the way all men are born." Guess we know what route they took with their son Dominic born last year!

The Big Bang Theory actress -- who has a son named Levi Hank and a daughter named Sawyer -- vocalized her opposition to circumcision on a 2010 episode of The Talk on CBS, noting, "Only 32.5 percent of babies are being cut these days, so [an uncircumcised baby] will be in the majority if you don't do it."

  • 6. Cameron Diaz

The actress, who recently spoke about not having kids, spoke with The Stir about circumcision while promoting her 2012 film What to Expect When You're Expecting. Her thoughts: "We knew [people were skittish] when they made us cut out a bunch about circumcision. To get a PG-13 rating we had to cut out the actual description of circumcision. So apparently it is very uncomfortable for people to hear how it works -- when you have to clamp on the foreskin, pull it over [the glans], and then slice it off. That is apparently really uncomfortable for people to hear. But I think it is important to know. America is the same way about their beef - they just want it delivered in a styrofoam package with saran wrap over it. They don't want to know how it got to you. Same thing with circumcision..."

Ben Affleck -- dad to three kiddos with Jennifer Garner, including son, Samuel -- famously told Jon Stewart on The Daily Show in 2006, "I hate circumcisions! Get enough in me, and I'll tell you how much I hate them!"

When Prince William was born in 1982, it is understood that the late Diana, the Princess of Wales, refused to continue the tradition of royal circumcision, in keeping with the then medical opinion that it was an unnecessary procedure whose risks outweighed any possible benefit, according to The Telegraph.

Well, guess we know where he'll stand if he ever does have a baby boy.
