Drew Barrymore Gives Her Jeans to a Homeless Teen

Drew Barrymore has found something worthwhile to do with her pre-pregnancy jeans. Instead of shoving them in the back of her closet until after the birth of her second child and subsequent slim down, the star has donated them to homeless teens

DoSomething.org is running a campaign this month called Teens For Jeans, in which people can donate their gently used jeans at any Aéropostale store. The pants will then be distributed to teens at local homeless shelters.

Drew Instagrammed a picture of herself (presumably) in jeans, and captioned it: "I just donated a bunch of my jeans to Teens For Jeans. There's less than 2 weeks left to donate for @dosomething & @aeropostale's #teensforjeans to help provide clothes for teens in need. Sign up at www.teensforjeans.com. Jeans for teens rule !!!!!!!"

This is the seventh year they’ve run the program, which ends February 23. In the last six years, people have donated over 3.5 million pairs of jeans, which means there are a lot of young people out there that have had one less thing to worry about -- pants.

Did you know that there are 1.7 million homeless teens in America? Or that teens between 12 and 17 are more likely to become homeless than adults? I fully admit that I had no idea. These kids should be worried about prom dresses and football games and finals -- not where they’re going to sleep tonight.

It may seem like a little thing, but you never know how you might impact someone with a donation. So gather up all those jeans you keep telling yourself you’ll fit back into someday and head to Aéropostale. They’re not doing any good folded in your dresser drawer.

Will you donate your jeans?
