Halle Berry Gives Birth Like Every Older Mom Should

halle berry olivier martinezHalle Berry gave birth yesterday! Instead of being happy about it, people roll their eyes and complain that we celebrate celebrity baby births too much. There is so much news coverage and people who have never met the pregnant Hollywood star rejoicing over the arrival or a little boy or girl. But I feel as if Halle Berry is different than many of the celebs who are having babies. She's what some will call of advanced maternal age. (Insert my own eye roll here) She's old. Too old to have babies, some believe. I wholeheartedly disagree.

I think 47-year-old Halle Berry sets a great example of how older moms can do everything younger moms can do. And the details about her birth further prove why we should all be celebrating.

It's a boy! A healthy baby boy! Of course I'd be just as excited if she had another girl. But I love how so far there are no details about a complicated birth, and her pregnancy seemed to be without any major concerns. A little over a week ago Halle was seen in a gorgeous, low cut dress, looking beautiful. She sheds light on how it is possible for older women to have a healthy pregnancy and a thriving baby. This is how it can and should be done.

This is baby number two for Halle, whose daughter Nahla with Gabriel Aubry is 5. Halle and new dad Olivier Martinez are said to be overjoyed and Olivier hasn't left Halle's side at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Nahla has also visited her mom and baby brother.

Back in the Spring, Halle said referring to her age:

This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful.

A beautiful, healthy surprise. Forty-three-year-old Gwen Stefani is gearing up for baby number 3 in style, too.

Congrats to the family!

Do you think Halle is too old to have a baby?
