Jessica Simpson Spaced Her Kids Out Perfectly: An Infant & a Toddler Is the Way to Go

jessica simpsonAs you may have heard, a little celebrity named Jessica Simpson recently gave birth to a baby boy, Ace Knute Johnson. Ace is the second baby for Simpson and her fiance, Eric Johnson. The couple welcomed their daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, in May of 2012, and according to a source, little Drew is excited, but "doesn't totally get it or understand [what's going on]." Which makes things all the easier! Jessica Simpson was smart to have a 14-month-old toddler and a 4-day-old infant! In fact, I couldn't have planned that better myself!

I know there are many people out there who gasp at the thought of having two babies so close in age, but I think it's better to have them back-to-back as Jessica did, as opposed to waiting. I, too, have a 14-month-old right now (no, I'm not pregnant), and every day that goes by, my daughter grows more and more independent. But not in the sense that she'd be able to help me with an infant, in the defiant sense. In the "don't you dare try to pick me up while I'm running around" sense. I swear, she seems to be getting smarter by the minute. And every day that goes by, she's harder to trick (which sucks sometimes!). In a month from now, she'll probably be hiding her food under her tongue only to spit it out when I turn my back.

Also, there's the fact that Jessica's children will be so close growing up -- emotionally. My sister and I are close, but we were never in high school at the same time. We always talk about how it would have been fun, and so different, if we were. We probably would have spent more time together and had more shared friends during that time. Thanks for ruining our fun, Mom and Dad!

At this point, little Maxwell can't really talk back either. Or talk at all. Sure, she can experience jealousy at this stage, but she can't verbally act out as she would if she were older. Also, she probably still sleeps in a crib. Cribs are much harder to climb out of than beds.

So, yeah. All in all, I think Jessica and Eric were smart to just "bang it out" and be done for now. I'm sure they'll encounter their share of obstacles, but I've gotta say, I think they'll be easier than if they would have waited.
