10 Celebrity Moms Who Had C-Sections

angelina jolieSome moms have natural births. Some moms have c-sections. Every baby is brought into this world differently. Some women simply prefer giving birth that way. Some women have c-sections out of necessity. The thing that matters most is that mama and baby are both safe and well taken care of.

But, as you know (and as with all things parenting), there seems to be a lot of controversy surrounding how women give birth. It sometimes can seem as if it's not their decision to choose. It sometimes can seem as if women are ... shamed for not giving birth how someone else wants them to. Not cool. And to be honest -- weird.

Here are 10 celebrities who gave birth to their beautiful babes via c-section -- and who are proud of it.

  • Victoria Beckham

Although Vicky is responsible for the phrase "too posh to push", VB has publicly stated that her c-sections -- all four of them -- were all medically necessary.

Daughter Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox were all born via c-section. And Angelina's damn proud. She said of her birth of Shiloh: "I had a C-section and I found it fascinating. I didn’t find it a sacrifice and I didn’t find it a painful experience. I found it a fascinating miracle of what a body can do."

  • Tori Spelling

Tori Spelling gave birth via c-section for all four of her children -- but it isn't necessarily what she wanted. "A c-section is no walk in the park!" Tori said. "Everyone thinks it’s so 'she-she.' It’s major surgery and the recovery is much longer and harder and painful. So I definitely wouldn’t have chosen it if I had the opportunity."

  • Christina Aguilera

Aguilera said of her elective c-section: "I didn’t want any surprises. Honestly, I didn’t want any tearing. I had heard horror stories of women going in and having to have an emergency C-section. The hardest part was deciding on his birthday. I wanted to leave it up to fate, but at the same time I was ready to be done early!"

  • Kate Winslet

Kate's story is a sad one. She actually lied about how her first child was born because she was embarrassed. After Winslet gave birth vaginally to her second child, she said: "I’ve never talked about this. I’ve actually gone to great pains to cover it up. But Mia was an emergency C-section. I just said that I had a natural birth because I was so completely traumatized by the fact that I hadn’t given birth. I felt like a complete failure. My whole life, I’d been told I had great childbearing hips. There’s this thing amongst women in the world that if you can handle childbirth, you can handle anything. I had never handled childbirth, and I felt like in some way that I couldn’t join that 'powerful women’s club.'"

Mom to Max and Emme said of her c-section: "Because I had twins and that was recommended for me to have a C-section, and there was a part of me [that] had thought, 'I didn’t get to do it the way that everybody else does.'"

  • Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson didn't plan on having a c-section, but when the doctor told her to go home, she wanted to get things over with. Kate said: "The doctor said I could go home ... I was like, 'I am not going home, just don’t want to do this again. Let’s just have a c-section.'"

  • P!nk

Singer P!nk had to have a c-section after she learned that daughter Willow was breech. "She was in the frank breech position, which is head up with her legs up by her head in a pike position," P!nk said. "We tried everything to turn her around. Turns out this little girl had other plans -- she is my daughter, after all."

  • Jenny McCarthy

Jenny did not enjoy her c-section. The TV personality said: "It’s horrible, it’s horrible -- it’s hard when they have you strapped down ’cause you’re like, ‘I just want to hold my baby!'"

  • Molly Sims

The model said of her c-section: "I wanted to do it naturally but there was a problem with the umbilical cord, so I had to have a C-section. It's definitely scary because you have to go into an operating room -- I walked in and then right back out."
