Bill O'Reilly's Jaw-Dropping Parenting Advice: Boys Who Like Pink Should Be Sent to Camp

Bill O'ReillyIf you have a young boy, can he be within close physical proximity to the color pink without throwing a massive tantrum? Well, according to esteemed Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, if that's the case, you need to punish him until he understands the true meaning of masculinity. O'Reilly's suggestion? "Send him to camp." Presumably a behavioral corrections camp where children are walloped with sticks until they not only embrace their gender stereotypes, but harshly judge those who aren't doing the same.

This bizarre story sounds almost too ridiculous to be true, but 1) hello, it's Bill O'Reilly we're talking about here, and 2) it really happened as the result of a scintillating discussion between O'Reilly and his equally obnoxious guest Adam Corolla. The topic in question: one school's "gender bender" day during Spirit Week. The conclusion: BOYS WHO LIKE PINK ARE STUPID.

During Monday's edition of The O'Reilly Factor, O'Reilly focused on a Wisconsin elementary school that offered students the choice to dress up as the opposite gender as a part of the school's Spirit Week celebrations. Members of the student council chose Friday as "Gender Bender Day" -- later dubbed "Switch It Up Day" -- and as with all Spirit Week theme days, it was completely voluntary.

A few parents managed to get fired up about the event, with one mother suggesting that it promoted homosexuality. O'Reilly gleefully ran with the story, claiming that the "pinhead" teachers had taken political correctness too far in their attempt to prevent bullying:

O'REILLY: It's all about anti-bullying and putting the children in other people's positions so they don't make fun of girls and boys. It's a politically correct tactic that's far too sophisticated for the children to understand and that's why it's stupid, and that's why these educators are pinheads. (...) Because while they may have a noble intent, they have no idea how children process things. You don't dress up like a little girl when you're five and you're a boy. That's just stupid.

You hear that, parents? That's just stupid. You put a dress on a 5-year-old, and presto: gay. And you don't want GAY, right? Hell no, and that's why you ship him off to camp unless he exhibits the correct behavior, which is freaking the fuck out if he's near the color pink:

CAROLLA: I mean, listen, I have a 6-year-old son, I have twins. He had to ride in his sister's pink car seat the other day for a mile and he screamed like a stuck pig the entire time.

O'REILLY: That's a good sign. That's a good sign because, if he had liked that, you might have to send him to camp.

A 6-year-old screaming like a "stuck pig" because he had to use a different carseat for 30 seconds? Yeah, that definitely sounds like a good sign. Stick that in the parenting column as a solid win, Carolla.

Setting aside the misinformed notion that the school's event had anything to do with bullying, I don't even know where to get started with how pathetic this whole exchange was -- but I sure feel for any kid whose parents are so paranoid about their own sexual identity that they feel the need to lambast others for not conforming to gender stereotypes. Truly, the only pinheads I see are the two yahoos in this video:
