'Blue Ivy for President!' -- Why Beyonce Is Starting Her Daughter's 'Campaign' Now (VIDEO)

beyonce says blue ivy can be presidentThe stars are coming out for Gucci's Chime for Change, a girls' and women's empowerment initiative supported by co-founders Beyonce, Salma Hayek, Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, John Legend, Katy Perry, Evan Rachel Wood, the list goes on and on. All of 'em are featured in a new video as part of the campaign, in which Beyonce talks about how she strives to empower 1-year-old Blue Ivy. Apparently, she's taken to telling her daughter every day she can be president. That she should know it's possible. So awesome!

Oh, sure, Bey sort of chuckles at herself for saying that to Blue since she's still so little, but so what? Check out the powerful clip ...

Aww. Bey should have no doubt that what she's doing the absolute best thing for her daughter by encouraging her like that at such a young age. I feel like it's never too soon to start telling your daughter, your niece, whoever that she's powerful, strong, smart, independent, capable of leading a country one day. Especially in a time when the media still sends the message that women's worth can be determined exclusively by her outward appearance. Especially in a time when violence, lack of health care, and inadequate education are still an unfortunate reality for many women and girls around the globe.

Women/moms like Beyonce realize that positive change can begin with the simplest communication. How we compliment our girls and what we are telling them about their strength and ability. On the Chime for Change site, she explains why she's involved in the campaign:

I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women. Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It's up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I'm honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation.

Cheers to that!

How do you empower the girls in your life? Do you agree they're never too young to hear this kind of encouragement?
