Beyonce's 'Supernatural' Birth Experience Sounds Super Beautiful

BeyonceI think we can safely put to rest any rumors that Beyonce faked her pregnancy, if for no other reason (and there are plenty of others) than because her recent detailed description of Blue Ivy's birth is so unique that she couldn't possibly have made it up. In a recent interview with Vogue, the typically private star opened up about what it was like and how she was "in communication" with her baby during the delivery.

Sounds a little out there, I know, but hear her out. She said that she felt "very maternal" around eight months, and figured that those feelings couldn't possibly get any stronger until she saw her baby. Instead, she said, it began during her labor in the most interesting way.

... it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain .... We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.

How cool is that? I love that image and can only imagine how visualizing something like that during birth could really help.

She said though she was previously scared of pregnancy, during Blue Ivy's birth, she felt fearless. “Everything that scared me just was not present in that room," she said. "So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction ... it was the best day of my life.”

To appreciate a contraction? That's a reach for many women, but a great way to think about them ... if you can.

She also said that giving birth has changed the way she thinks about her body.

It is a lot more sensual ... empowering. Right now, after giving birth, I really understand the power of my body, I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it. Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame.

No shame. That should be every mother's motto when it comes to our post-baby bodies. We can work to improve them, to be healthier, but there should be no shame when it comes to our amazing bodies that produce our amazing children.

So overall, it sounds like Beyonce's birth experience was beautiful, and motherhood now even more so. Of Blue Ivy, she said, "She's my homey, my best friend." Say it with me, Awwww.

What do you think of Beyonce's description of her birth experience? Was yours anything like hers?
