Beyonce Throws Blue Ivy a Birthday Party a Wedding Planner Would Envy

Beyonce and Jay-ZAww! Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy, just turned a year old, a huge milestone that's so exciting for any parent. And it's totally understandable that Bey and Jay would want to have a huge party to celebrate their little girl's first birthday, but based on rumors floating around as far as party details go, the little shin-dig they planned sounds more like a high-end wedding than a baby's birthday bash.

Wait for it -- supposedly Beyonce and Jay-Z spent upwards of $200,000 on Blue Ivy's party. Yes, $200,000!

I'll give you a minute to pick your jaw up off the floor before I go any further.

Ok, ready for a couple more details? Apparently little Blue received one verrrrry expensive gift to celebrate her first year at her ridiculously pricey party -- an $80,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie doll. (Bling, bling.) And her birthday cake cost a reported $2,000.

Um, seriously? Eighty-thousand for a doll, and $2,000 for a darn cake? And oh yeah, supposedly they dropped $95,000 on flowers too.

I suppose there's a decent chance that the amount Beyonce and Jay-Z actually spent on their daughter is a bit exaggerated, but if these claims are true? Man. That's one spoiled kid, all right. And honestly, a lavish party like that is way, way more than any baby deserves -- no matter how famous or wealthy her parents are.

I mean, she's a baby -- so it's not like she's going to remember the party anyway. No baby does.

Yes, we had a little get-together at our house when our son turned a year old. There was cake, food, the company of family and friends, and of course, we gave him a few gifts to unwrap. But we didn't go overboard, because considering how fast babies grow out of certain toys, we didn't want to shower him with a bunch of gifts only to have to buy new things for him to play with a few months later.

And yes, I'm no dummy, and I realize that $200,000 to Beyonce and Jay-Z is probably the equivalent of $200 to us "regular folk". Still, if they really did spend that much, it almost seems like they were aiming to impress the adults at the party versus celebrating the first year of Blue Ivy's life.

And if that baby got a $200,000 party for her first birthday, I wonder how they're going to manage to outdo themselves when she turns 2?!? They've got quite a tough act to follow, that's for sure.

If money were no option, would you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on your baby's first birthday?
