Kristin Cavallari's 'No Stress' Baby Weight Loss Plan Makes Total Sense

Kristin Cavallari post-babyI wasn't a big fan of Kristin Cavallari during her Laguna Beach days. She came across like the ultimate high school mean girl. But she started to grow on me a little during The Hills. You could always count on Kristin to tell it like it was. But now I'm starting to turn into a genuine fan.

Because Kristin recently said something that new moms need to hear. The Dancing With the Stars alum appeared on the red carpet for the first time since giving birth to son, Camden, two months ago. She already looks great. But when asked about her post-baby body, she said something so obvious, and so damn necessary, that her mean girl days are totally forgiven.


When asked about losing that baby weight, Kristin didn't tout a weight loss plan (cough Jessica Simpson cough) nor did she deny she was doing anything. Yeah, she gave that old line about burning calories through breastfeeding. Hey, I guess that works for some women. But she also had this golden nugget of wisdom:

I've been on the treadmill and doing a little jogging, but taking it easy and not killing myself. And I haven't really been stressing about it either. I think that helps.

Hear that?! Not stressing! Not killing herself! Taking it easy! Big sigh.

It used to be that it was just celebrities who did the whole kill-yourself-to-lose-the-baby-weight thing, but that mentality has been picked up by us regular folk. Listen to my friend, who gave birth to her daughter three months ago. She railed on Facebook:

Is it wrong that every time I see the Weight Watchers Jessica Simpson commercial, I have an urge to smack her face? You aren't "just Jessica" ... You are rich and have every resource available to you: trainers, chefs, time, money, etc. So F off!!

The pressure to have flat abs a couple of days after a birth is getting to everyone. (Not that Jess's weight has exactly melted away.) And new moms already have enough to worry about. There's the baby's health, your health, getting some sleep, returning to work, having some kind of relationship with your husband ... and then you're expected to look like J. Lo or Gisele Bundchen post-baby too? How many women even looked like that before-baby?

I say all new moms hang up Kristin's words somewhere in their house and make it their mantra. A little jogging. Taking it easy. Not killing myself. Not stressing.

See how that goes. If you don't lose weight, you'll at least be happy.
