Giuliana & Bill Rancic to Televise Birth of Baby Duke, Hooray!

Giuliana and Bill RancicWe would have understood if they didn't want to share it, but the fact that we're going to get to see the delivery of Giuliana and Bill Rancic's baby on television is great news indeed. It will air on their reality show Giuliana & Bill, and I for one can't wait to see those first few incredible moments for which they waited for so long.

According to RadarOnline, Giuliana told the Chicago Sun-Times Sunday magazine Splash that at first they didn't want to allow cameras in the delivery room besides their own personal ones. Then a week before the delivery, they changed their minds. She told the magazine she felt it was the right thing to do.

This is our sixth season and people have followed our story for years. To have people praying for you and supporting you and wanting the best for you and wanting you to have this baby so badly, and then to say, ‘Thanks for all your prayers, thanks for your support, we’re not showing the baby.’ That’s wrong.

I don't think it would have been wrong necessarily, but I'm so glad they changed their minds. Personally I didn't want any video of my children's births taken by even family, so I can't say I'd do the same. However, after all they've gone through and put out there in the public, it only seems right that they'd want to share this most joyous moment in their lives as well.

Call it a ratings ploy if you want, but I doubt that had little if anything to do with their decision. Plenty of parents vow to not "over-share" about their babies and every little move they make. Then the baby is born, and you feel this overwhelming need to show the world just how amazing every little thing they do is.

It's also exciting because the birth was via a gestational carrier. It's not something we see every day, and I think it could offer some insight and comfort to others who might consider such an option. It will be interesting to see how they handle it and how much is shown.

The season premiere is tomorrow night, October 2, so we won't have to wait long to find out. It airs at 8/7 central on the Style Network.

Are you glad that they're going to air the baby's birth on television? Will you watch?
