Justin Bieber Credited for Disabled Girl's Medical Breakthrough (VIDEO)

Megan HamScientists say Bieber Fever is more infectious than measles, and that it can even be dangerous. For a seriously ill fifth grade girl in Washington, however, that power of Justin Bieber is said to be helping her defy the medical odds.

According to Fox 12, Megan Ham, 11, was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease known as Lissencephaly shortly after birth. There are only about 1,500 cases of it around the world, and doctors didn't think she'd live past the age of 2. Incredibly, she defied those odds, and now The Biebs and his music have helped her defy even more.

They discovered the power of his music for the girl by accident. While she's severely impaired neurologically and had been unable to express any emotion for years, suddenly when she heard Justin's music in the background, she began to respond -- even smile and kick her legs.

Since then they've equipped her wheelchair with a system that lets her listen to his tunes anytime she likes. Her family is amazed about how the music has changed her and are thankful for the gifts it has given them in seeing emotional responses from her. Her father, Michael Ham, told the station:

We never thought we would feel that, from what the doctors said at the beginning. This has really opened up a lot of doors.

Whether you like Justin's music or not (and I'm pretty firmly in the not camp), you've got to admit that this is pretty amazing. Hopefully, Justin will make her dreams come true when he visits Portland later this year. He seems inclined to do so as he tweeted earlier this week: "MEGAN you stay strong for me and I'm gonna make sure we meet when i come to Portland. Love you and Thank You :)"

He just might make me a Belieber after all. Here's more on this incredible story.

Are you amazed that Justin Bieber's music could have such an impact on this girl?
