A Pregnant Sarah Michelle Gellar Is About to Join the 'Old Moms' Club

Sarah Michelle Gellar Sarah Michelle Gellar and, husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their second child later this year. They already have a 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte Grace, and are very excited about growing their family.

At 35, Sarah Michelle is just one of a growing trend where women are pregnant at what doctors consider an “advanced maternal age.” In Hollywood alone, she is joined by Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Berkeley, Tori Spelling, Melissa Joan Hart, Lisa Loeb and Reese Witherspoon and those are just off the top of my head.

Granted there are a few issues that may arise and when you get pregnant after 35, but I think having kids a little later in life is fantastic. Couples are usually more stable in their relationship -- they've traveled, they have had time to really get to know one another, and they're generally more advanced in their careers. Women who have been in their chosen fields for a longer amount of time tend to be making more money and more vital to their company.

Also, parents who are older seem a little more equipped psychologically to have a child. Obviously, none of us can be totally prepared for what parenthood brings. But we can be better parents when we're older because we have evolved into a better version of ourselves. We have evolved into a more wise, advanced if you will, version of who we once were. At least I think I have.

What are your thoughts on having a baby at 35 or later?
