Jessica Simpson Doesn't Want to Be a Single Mom

jessica simpsonWith all the fanfare surrounding Jessica Simpson's pregnancy, I almost forgot that the pop star also happens to be engaged to her baby daddy, Eric Johnson. But, alas, she is. And the fact that she's super pregnant (how pregnant, no one knows) isn't going to stop her from planning her wedding, dagnabbit.

Sunday, Simpson was seen popping into the Monique Lhuillier store on Melrose Place in Los Angeles -- presumably to look for a wedding dress, as that's what Lhuillier is known for.

That's lovely and all, but having a baby and planning a wedding at the same time? Oh, hell no.

I'm currently in the incipient stage of planning my baby shower (with the help of my sister), and let me tell you, it's stressful. The registry alone keeps me up at night. Do I get a co-sleeper or a bassinet? A Baby Bjorn or a Mei Tai? How many swaddling blankets do I need? And why don't there seem to be any non-toxic mattresses that fit the portable crib I want?! It's a lot to ponder and research, and that's just picking out gifts for my dear friends and family to buy me!

Then comes the shower itself: Where to have it? Who to invite? What food should I have? Should we play games, or are games cheesy? Will it be safe to wash the blankets and clothes at a laundromat afterwards, or is that gross? And then there's the reading I'm doing; the classes I'm taking; the nursery I'm planning, etc. etc. to the end of time. It's so much to take in. I feel like I could spend all day every day doing stuff and still not be "totally prepared." How in the Sam Hell is Jessica thinking about both this and a wedding?

I guess there's the fact that, unlike me, Jessica has "people." And I imagine "people" make things like having a child or planning a wedding easier and less stressful. But still. I kind of feel like, in her case, the wedding can wait. Obviously, she and her boyfriend love each other very much -- neither is going anywhere. What's the rush? Why not just focus on the baby for now, since it's, you know, imminent, and save the wedding for later? Seems like things would be a lot more fun that way.

Did you plan your wedding while pregnant? Could you?
