Kate Hudson Baby Proves 'Pendulum Test' Doesn't Work

It's a boy for actress Kate Hudson and Muse rocker Matt Bellamy. The couple welcomed the new addition to their family on Saturday, July 9. The new baby was somewhat of a surprise to both since they had decided not to find out the gender before the big day -- and thought it was going to be a girl. Hudson had tried a "pendulum test," which said she'd have a girl. She'd done the same test with Ryder, and it worked. (So maybe it's just a 50-50 chance kind of thing?)

The new little guy joins big bro Ryder, 7 (Hudson's son with her ex, Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson) who is going to be super excited. Despite the Pendulum Test's prediction, Ryder was still hoping for a brother. Hudson told ET: "If it comes out a boy ... to see the look on Ryder's face. I mean, forget it."

The healthy baby boy was born in Los Angeles, but will be moving to London shortly, where his new dad is recording an album.

No word yet on what the baby's name is and we're all dying to know. So for now, all we can tell you is we now have proof that the Pendulum Test doesn't work. See Kate explain it in the video below if you want to try it anyway:

Congratulations to Kate, Matt & Ryder!

Have you tried the Pendulum Test or any other gender prediction test?
