‘Teen Mom 2’ Stars Will Be Mentored By Britney Spears

Britney SpearsThe season finale of Teen Mom 2 left me a crying wreck, but I was getting all set to miss those ladies until I heard the good news! It was announced on April 1 that Britney Spears is coming out to mentor Jenelle, Chelsea, Kailyn, and Leah. And you better believe MTV is going to be giving us a special out of this.

How could they not? I know what you're thinking. Britney? Really? She of the "drives her kids around without a carseat"? Ghetto parent Britney? But that was the OLD Britney Spears.

The new pop diva has cut out fast food and alcohol as she prepares to go on tour, and she's trying to get healthy. She's even taken the news that her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is expecting another child with his new girlfriend very well.

Yes, Britney seems to have grown up. But just as important for her role with the Teen Mom 2 crew is the fact that she knows what it's like to go through hard times -- both as a teenager in the media's eye and a parent. The 29-year-old Spears was younger than the teen moms when she first hit the big time on the Mickey Mouse Club. She was just about their age when she hit the charts with "Hit Me Baby One More Time."

And should we even bring up all her parenting mishaps? You think Jenelle abandoning Jace to smoke pot on her mom's front porch was bad? Try letting your 2 1/2-year-old play with cigarettes and a lighter ... while smoking in front of him.

She can talk about her follies and her foibles, give Leah some solid advice on how NOT to screw up that young marriage with Corey, and with that Candies clothing design deal, maybe Spears is the one to get Chelsea to try some prints out of the leopard/cheetah realm? Really, who's better qualifed to school the teen moms, especially on MTV of all places?

Teens want someone they can identify with, and let's face it -- Dr. Drew is about 30 years too old for the task. Is it any wonder they're ditching him in favor of Brit Brit?

UPDATE: April Fools!
