Christina Applegate Went 'Numb' at Her Pregnancy News

When Christina Applegate found out she was pregnant, she "went numb," she told Entertainment Weekly.

“I was like, ‘Huh? How did that happen?’ I knew how it happened, of course, but I went into a state of shock for a couple of days. When I came out of it, I was really, really excited," she went on to say.

And here I thought I was the only one who was not screaming for joy and running around the room the day I found out I was pregnant.

Instead, I was sitting in the bathroom, pee stick still wet, having a virtual panic attack. It isn't that I wasn't happy. I was. Very. But the enormity of it was sitting on my shoulders that afternoon and I could not believe how permanent it all was.

For about two days after I found out, I felt terrified. I was afraid to open my emails and talk about it and afraid to start to browse baby items, partly because I was afraid I might not keep the pregnancy but also because it's scary to find out you're bringing a new life into the world.

I was always like that with transitions in my life -- buying a house, getting engaged, the wedding. So I was prepared to feel that numbness for a while, but I think some of my friends may have been surprised.

It seems everyone expects only excitement and joy. I have never had any transition that was not a mixed bag of emotion.

How about the rest of you? How did you take the news?
