We all know Kate Middleton is going to be queen one day, so she's got to look like one, whether she's wearing a couture gown and heels or yoga pants and sneakers. And she does, day in, day out -- at least in public -- with beautiful clothes we want in our own closets as soon as we see them. Of course, we don't have even a quarter of her annual clothes budget, or contacts in big design houses, but we do have the power of the internet -- and we use it to find less expensive versions of her best outfits and plunk down pennies to look like a million bucks. Thankfully, there is no shortage of online retailers, department stores, and women's brands that are only too happy to meet our needs. Some even seem aware that they're latest inventory bears a certain resemblance to the wardrobe of a certain Duchess of Cambridge.

What is it, exactly, that makes Kate a fashion icon capable of making whatever she's wearing sell out almost immediately -- and make us make a beeline to our laptops to search for affordable alternatives?

That's easy to answer: She has a style that manages to marry the classic with the modern in a way that would work for most women.

Though she's taken a few fashion risks, Kate is not about wearing avant garde or remotely edgy pieces. (We won't see her rocking a floppy Yeezus sweater or embracing the ugly sneaker trend.) But here's the thing: Though her clothes are high end, they are relatable to many women -- including moms like her who are busy working, taking care of a family, and trying to stay healthy.

We want gorgeous blouses that can be re-mixed and matched in new ways to make our wardrobe stretch, dresses that are make us look spectacular whether we're on date night or a networking event, or premium-looking jeans that can be dressed up with a blazer. Believe it or not, that describes Kate's style.

To prove it, we've gathered 18 classic Kate looks and their affordable lookalikes. Go ahead, feel like a queen-to-be.

Smythe is one of Kate's go-to brands for blazers (which can cost upwards of $600). She wore one of the brand's black-and-white Prince of Wales check versions to attend the Shout Crisis Volunteer celebration in November 2019. Paired with a white tee and colorful pants, it was a simple but polished daytime look.

  • Floral Dress for Less

Slightly different cut, same ladylike vibe? Yup. We would definitely rock this to drop off the kiddies at school, provided it was laundry day and all of our sweatpants and pajama tops were in the hamper. We'd still rock a messy mom bun, though.

  • Casual Culottes for Less

While Jigsaw's culottes won't break the bank (relatively speaking), why spend $100 on them when Walmart (yes, Walmart) has similar pants that look great for a bargain bin price? • Black Jeans for Less

Though Kate loves expensive jeans, she adores more affordable brands, too. And thanks to the low price, so can we. These jeans from Target have a special stretchy material which means the high waist will still produce a toned silhouette.

  • Colorful Jeans

When Kate wore these coral jeans to meet the British field hockey team at the 2012 Olympics in London, the internet broke trying to figure out which one of her fave brands she was wearing. J Jeans? Zara? There was no confirmation of anything other than that she looks amazing in color jeans.

  • Colorful Jeans for Less

No guessing game here. Plain and simple, these high-rise skinny jeans from Target are pretty in pink, and get great reviews from women everywhere who love them for their great fit and generous stretch factor.

  • Track Pants

Pictures like this make us wish we could go back in time and get involved in sports as a kid, like Kate, seen here at an event at London's National Tennis Center. Maybe then we'd have her pure joy of staying active and fit, instead of dragging ourselves to the gym. Oh, yeah, her $325 Monreal track pants are so cool with that thick white stripe.

  • Track Pants for Less

Hey, we know a brand with an iconic stripe pattern -- Adidas. At a much lower price point, we can get fit and healthy with refreshingly not-skin-tight pants that are perfect for running, hitting the gym, stomping around the basketball court, or, ya know, a going on a frappuccino run.

  • Utility Shirt

We get why this type of top, which Kate wore during a tour of Canada, is called a utility shirt. It's derived from tan and olive colored camp shirts with all kinds of pockets that make it, ya know, useful. But this is Burberry, honey, so it's all about how gorgeous it is and how it fits like a dream.
  • Utility Shirt for Less

This is just so easy to wear, and with it being 100 percent cotton, this button-front shirt is likely so comfortable and airy, making it great to take on adventures to the great outdoors. It's also great over a bathing suit on a beach trip.

A little black dress with extra elegance.

That's what Kate wore to the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall. Part of the dress' appeal, of course, is that it's custom Dolce & Gabbana, the Italian design house that has made several lace frocks for the duchess.
  • Black Lace Dress for Less

Lace has always been gorgeous but also traditionally kind of a movement-restricting cage. That's not the case with this cute little number, which has Spandex in it for maximum movement while still looking amazing.
