As far as Christmas presents go, it's well-known that the royal family keeps things pretty low-key. No one is "allowed" to buy each other big ticket items (even for Queen Elizabeth) during the holidays; instead, everyone is expected to give a thoughtful gift that's either homemade or of the gag variety. (Prince Harry reportedly once gave his grandmother a shower cap with the words "Ain't Life a B----" on it.) That said, the royal kids don't exactly understand this concept yet, so they're still asking for fairly elaborate presents. Prince George and Princess Charlotte's Christmas requests have just been reportedly revealed, and we have to say: respect. Especially to Charlotte.

  • According to a royal insider, George and Charlotte already have their lists made up -- but they shouldn't get TOO excited about them just yet.

A supposed royal source told Closer : "Charlotte takes after Queen Elizabeth and is obsessed with horses. She's asked for a pony, but might have to wait until next year because William thinks she’s too young."

Next year? What kind of monster are you, William?!

The source also revealed that, although Charlotte isn't getting a pony just yet, William and Kate are indulging her interests. "They've bought her a toy riding center, which comes with all the accessories and a children's karaoke machine!" the insider said.

  • As for George, he's a little more low-key than his younger sister.

The source went on to say: "George is really into tennis and has asked for a new racket and a football table."

A new tennis racket certainly doesn't seem too over the top. And who could forget last year when George asked for a toy police car? So cute! And definitely not nearly as elaborate as a pony!

  • In addition to Charlotte's toy horse set and karaoke machine, Will and Kate have another gift planned for their two eldest children.

"They'll both be receiving children's cookery sets because they love making a mess in the kitchen!" the royal insider went on to say. Can't say we're all that surprised to hear that because it's common knowledge that George and Charlotte are fans of helping Kate in the kitchen.

In February, during a visit to Lavender Primary School, the duchess revealed that both of her children enjoy being her sous chef.

According to Matthew Kleiner-Mann, chief executive of the Ivy Learning Trust, Kate explained "how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her" at the event.

"They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff," he told People. "Food is important to her and she understands the links between mental health and physical exercise."

  • So far, no word on what Prince Louis has on his Christmas list, but we're pretty sure he'll be happy with wrapping paper and whatever his siblings get.

As for George and Charlotte? Well, they better enjoy the "fun" gifts now. Because once they're old enough to understand how privileged they are, they're going to be trading karaoke machines and ponies for shower caps and homemade jams.

One of the downfalls of being a royal.
