Lately, Kim Kardashian has been working hard and contributing to the criminal justice reform effort, and as it turns out, she has a personal reason for getting so involved. In a new interview, Kim opened up about raising black sons, and why she wants to make the world as "safe and fair" as she can for them to live in as they grow up.

In an interview with Jenna Bush Hager on 'The Today Show,' Kim opened up about why she got involved in activism.

"I definitely see how black men are treated in this country … and I'm raising two black men, so I want to make sure that my world and their world is as safe and as fair as possible," Kim explained.

We get it. It has to be scary for Kim to know that her children could be in danger just because of the color of their skin -- especially Psalm and Saint. Of course she wants to try and do what she can to change it.

Kim also went on to share that her kids have made her want to work even harder to protect them however she can.

"When you become a mom, you become so protective," Kim told Jenna. "You want to hopefully make their world the most perfect place ever, and ours obviously isn't."

This is something most parents can relate to. Who doesn't want to save their kid from the real-world problems they'll inevitably face, especially once they're adults. The world can be a seriously scary place, but Kim's kids are lucky to have her as their mom.

Here's Kim's full interview:

We really admire all the work she's been doing -- and how she's been studying to become a lawyer in what must be her very limited free time. She's also running her own empire and raising four kids, including a newborn ... NBD.

But Kim has been making a major difference in the lives of so many people, including Rodney Reed, a man who recently had his death row sentence suspended after almost being executed for a crime he says he didn't commit. It takes a lot to create real change, but Kim's doing her part.

We can't wait to see what the future holds for Kim and her activism.

Whatever she manages to accomplish next, we'll know it's because of her hard work -- and because her driving force behind that hard work has to do with her kids.

If anyone can put their mind to it and help save the world, it's this lady.
