Well this isn't going to help those feud rumors. According to an official statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ditching the royal family for Christmas this year. Yup, they're breaking the longstanding tradition of joining Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham on December 25, and apparently, they may not even be staying in the UK.

On Wednesday, the palace released a statement about how Harry and Meghan will be spending Christmas. They said, "Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess' mother Doria Ragland. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen."

They also referenced Harry and Meghan's six-week sabbatical, saying, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month."

OK, so they say this is "in line with precedent," but is it really?-placeholder

After all, Harry is still in the line for succession -- it's not like he's some distant cousin. He's a prince

OK fine, it is actually acceptable, and Prince William and Kate Middleton even spent Christmas with her family in 2016, the last year before Meghan burst onto the scene.

No word on where the family will celebrate, but according to People magazine, they won't be spending Christmas day in Los Angeles. They will likely be visiting for Thanksgiving though, as they're about to begin a six-week sabbatical.

A royal source confirmed last month, "The duke and duchess have a full schedule of engagements and commitments until mid-November, after which they will be taking some much-needed family time."

We get why they want to have a quieter, family-centered Christmas with their baby this year.-placeholder

After all, it is Archie's first Christmas. We're sure Meg would much rather be playing with her sweet little boy while wearing matching Christmas jammies than getting gussied up to go to church with Queen Elizabeth.

We can't blame her one bit.
