Sounds like Abbie Duggar might be taking a path that's way different than the ones her sisters-in-law have chosen! Apparently, Abbie's keeping nursing as an option for her future, which means she could end up being the first working mom in the Duggar fam. What?!

  • While talking to Us Weekly, Abbie spilled on her future career plans.

"I've got my license transferred over to Arkansas so that I have that availability if I want it," Abbie said. "I know I'm planning to keep up my license by doing the continuing education hours. We've just really been enjoying being married and traveling a lot this year. So we'll just keep it as an option and see what happens."

She also said that she may wait until her "little girl is grown" -- so maybe once the baby's old enough, Abbie can go back to work? It's smart for them to keep it as an option, because it's hard to predict the future, especially financially.

  • John David also said they've considered Abbie working full time.

"I think [we'll] wait until the baby's born before we make any big decisions for us," he told the mag. "Then maybe several months down the road after the baby’s here, we can look at ... different places for options for her to even work part-time or something like that."

Whoa. Even part-time work would be progressive for the Duggars. Maybe it's because Abbie and John David are older and starting a family later than JD's siblings did? Hmm ...

  • Our minds are pretty blown that this is even something they're considering.

So far, it's been made pretty clear that Duggar ladies are meant to be homemakers and focus on raising their children, while the husbands are the breadwinners. It's just the way it's done in their fam, even if that's not realistic for a lot of other families.

But we have seen these roles shift just slightly. After all, Joy-Anna's been all about flipping houses alongside Austin. Maybe Abbie joining the workforce isn't such a stretch?

  • We'll believe Abbie's going back to nursing when we see it, though.

Like we said, it would be a major shake up in the family -- we can't imagine what Jim Bob and Michelle would have to say about it!

No matter what happens, we're glad to hear Abbie's keeping her options open ... and that she's waiting 'til the baby has arrived to make any big decisions. Kids change so much about life that it's definitely for the best!
