How is it possible that Kate Middleton has never given an interview as a royal before? According to CNN, the Duchess of Cambridge's last official news interview was in November 2010, just after Prince William proposed to her. We've seen her give numerous speeches in the years since (and watched her become a mom three times over!), but somehow, she's managed to get out of news interviews.

Kate Middleton gave a rare interview to CNN during their royal tour of Pakistan.

The couple spoke to Max Foster about their first tour in Pakistan, and especially visiting a children's orphanage while there.

"William and I really wanted to come and see an SOS Children's Village like this," Kate said on camera. "There's so many vulnerable women here but they've really used their positivity and the support that the village here provides them to support and protect the next generation of children in their care and give them the best possible start to their future lives."

The mom of three also said that being in Pakistan has been "really special."

"It's been fantastic, we've seen a lot of Pakistan, a huge variety," the duchess gushed. "It's amazing seeing some of the geography but then to see some of the community activities like this has been really special."

Kate and William shared earlier this month that they were looking forward especially to the food, although he was worried it might be too spicy. And apparently, the family loves to eat curry at home, and Kate shared that her daughter Charlotte likes things spicy like her mama. "Charlotte is pretty good with heat," she commented.

The Cambridges seem to have focused on the children quite a bit this trip.

They even attended a children's birthday party at the SOS Children's Village, where William was apparently in full-on dad mode. When meeting Iman, 12, Ibrahim, 6, and Daniyal, 8, he reportedly said, ""It’s very nice to be here. My name is William ... I am called William. How old are you?”

After the kids told the prince their ages, William asked, "How old do you think I am?"

"Twenty-one," one said.

"I'll take 21, that’s good!" William laughed, adding, "I am a little bit older than that. Can you guess? I have my own children. A little boy called Louis and then there is Charlotte and then George, who is 6. He's almost as old as you."

Will this be the beginning of a new trend for Kate?

Will she be giving interviews on the regular now? We love any time we hear from Kate, so we'd be totally down for that.
