We're going to go ahead and file this one under: OH, COME ON, PEOPLE. A recent report in the Express claims that Meghan Markle may have put Princess Charlotte's "life at risk" on her wedding day by giving her a flower crown to wear. The reason? The crowns the bridesmaids wore contained lily of the valley, which can be deadly, particularly to kids.

  • According to London-based florist Gemma Finch, the kids' flower crowns were made of “spray flowers, lily of the valley, lisianthus, and cuscus.”

Additionally, Meghan’s bouquet was comprised of forget-me-nots, sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, and astrantia.

The problem, though? According to the Express, lily of the valley is a "highly poisonous woodland flowering plant and ingestion could be deadly."

The Express reprinted the following quote from Gardening Know How by Bonnie L. Grant, a certified urban agriculturist:

Few spring flowers are as charming as fragrant lily of the valley. These woodland flowers are native to Eurasia but have become very popular landscape plants in North America and many other regions. However, behind their cute exterior and pleasant scent lies a potential villain. Lily of the valley toxicity makes it unsafe to have around children and pets. The plant is so dangerous that ingestion could result in a trip to the emergency room, or in rare cases death.

  • Scary? Yes. But also ...

  • Does anyone think that Meghan would have intentionally put Charlotte -- or any child -- at risk for anything?!

No doubt this could be an issue in some instances, as some young kids do put things that aren't food in their mouth. But surely if this were a genuine concern for members of the royal family, someone would have brought this up before the wedding, right?

  • Oh, and you know who else had lily of the valley in their wedding?

Kate Middleton, as well as Princess Eugenie and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall -- and yes, there were children in all of their weddings too.

  • Anything can be dangerous -- particularly around kids -- but that doesn't mean these things need to be eliminated completely.

Should royals stop standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at Trooping the Colour because someone could fall off? No. Just exercise caution.

And for crying out loud, stop trying to make Meghan Markle out to be a villain. It's getting old.
