The Situation Breaks His Silence About Life Behind Bars
In case anyone missed the news, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is finally a free man -- and now, he's speaking out. In a new interview, Mike talked prison for the first time since his release, and it seems he and his wife, Lauren, couldn't be happier.
Maybe he actually learned his lesson?
Earlier this month, Mike was released after serving his 8-month prison sentence.
In 2017, he and his brother, Marc, were charged with falsifying and structuring tax records, and in January, he finally began his sentence. On September 12, he was released, although he still has to pay $10,000 in fines and serve 500 hours of community service before he's fully finished paying for his crimes.
So how is he doing now that he's had a couple weeks of freedom?
The Situation recently sat down with 'Entertainment Tonight' to talk about his time behind bars and how he's now a "changed man."
"I have my beautiful wife next to me," he said. "I'm healthy, I'm sober, back at work with my best friends on the No. 1 show on MTV and just living the dream."
The Situation went on to say that his first night home, he and Lauren had a "naked pizza party." He's now working on keeping his fitness and his work in line -- as well as his finances, because he said he wants to make sure he stays out of prison.
Good plan, Mike!
Mike also went on to describe his prison routine, which seems pretty rigid.
According to The Sitch, he went to bed at 10 p.m. and woke up at 7 a.m. every day following the same routine. Although his GTL Jersey Shore lifestyle couldn't exactly be maintained behind bars, he made sure the "gym" part did.
"I did fasted cardio for about an hour, and I was practicing intermittent fasting while I was in prison," he said. "I had to continually challenge myself, whether it was in the gym or diet, as well as reading books and trying to progress spiritually as well. If you do not keep yourself busy in there, idle hands are for the devil."
And even though the experience was tough for him, Mike called the whole experience "manageable."
He did say the prison food is "like the worst school lunch you've ever had," and that most of all, he missed Lauren -- and realized that he had taken his freedom for granted.
"Every second, every meal, every conversation, I cherish," he said. "I love my job, I feel like I'm on such an awesome road and we're very excited to see what the future has to offer."
We're so glad to see Mike doing so well, and it seems as if he is really appreciating this next chapter of his life.
We were never really worried about Mike making it through prison, so we're not surprised that he came out on the other side, stronger than ever.
Now, we just hope he stays out of trouble. We know Lauren has to be so happy to have him home -- and we can't wait to follow along with his adventures on Instagram and Jersey Shore.
