Looks like somebody is thoroughly enjoying her baby-free weekend getaway to New York City! Meghan Markle attended the U.S. Open final today to watch her bestie, Serena Williams, compete for the win, and she showed up looking a lot like the Meghan we knew before she became a mom, what with her denim dress and hair down around her shoulders. Being that this is the first time Meghan was away overnight from little Archie, it just goes to show how important Serena's friendship is to her.

  • Back to what she was wearing ...

Is this the perfect dress for the end of summer, or what? With her sunglasses tucked into a buttonhole, Meghan was pretty much the picture of NYC chic.

  • If Meghan had any sort of jet lag going on, nobody would've guessed.

Look at how relaxed she is! She looks absolutely thrilled to be there to support her bestie, and having a little downtime seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

  • Not surprisingly, Meghan was quite the hot topic of conversation, and all eyes were on her today.

You know what happened next, right?

Yep. People are up in arms not only about the duchess taking away from the excitement of the match, but also because they feel Meghan was there to cheer on Serena, not make a spectacle of herself.

  • Here we go ...

They really do have a point. Given all of the negative press that Meghan has received since becoming a royal, I'm sure the last thing she wanted was to be the focus of all the attention during such an important day in her friend's life.

  • Others went so far as to call Meghan a bad luck charm.

Given that Serena did wind up losing the match to Bianca Andreescu, there are bound to be more people questioning whether Meghan was a distraction to her.

  • Whether or not she was invited to the match is even being questioned.

Um, they're probably just, you know, paying attention to the tennis match that they are there to watch instead of having all eyes on Meghan. Wouldn't that make more sense than her blatantly being ignored?

  • Apparently even Serena's coach had concerns about Meghan being there.

    A curse? Seriously?

But Serena's opinion is all that really matters, and surely she appreciated her dear friend making such a long journey just to be there as a means of support.

Hey, you can't win 'em all, right?
