Beauty is pain, or so they say. It was certainly true for Kim Kardashian's stunning look at the Met Gala in May, when she turned heads with her impossibly tiny waist and wet-look dress. In a new interview, Kim opened up about achieving the look, and it sounds seriously painful.

  • Kim wore a design from French designer Thierry Mugler -- his first new design in two decades.

On the red carpet, Kim told Vogue, "This is the first time in 20 years Mr. Mugler has designed for the House of Mugler. So to come and design this gown for me is such an honor. This is about eight months in the making ... He envisioned me this California girl stepping out of the ocean, wet, dripping."

  • Kim recently revealed that cinching her waist that tightly was the most pain she's ever experienced.

She told the Wall Street Journal, "I have never felt pain like that in my life. I'll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off -- the indentations on my back and my stomach." When the interviewer asked about the rumors that she'd had ribs removed to achieve the look, she simply said, "I don't even know if that's possible."

The most painful thing ever? She literally gave birth to two children, and this corset was more painful?
  • Kim's tiny waist was so controversial that even her personal trainer took to social media to defend her.

Melissa Alcantara said in an Instagram story following the Met Gala, "Kim trains her ass off 6 days a f---ing week, she wakes up early af and is dedicated ... I don't give a s--- if you think she fake or not! I see her every morning, I see her train and I see her sweat and I see all the work she does outside of the gym."

  • Honestly, we only have one question left about Kim's Met Gala dress.
