It's that time of year again! Kate Middleton made an appearance at Wimbledon on July 2, and this time she took fans by surprise by straying from her normal MO at the annual tennis tournament. Rather than heading straight to her front row seat in the royal box, she took a detour to another court, where she sat with the crowd to take in a match.

  • Cate took in a game on Court 14 to watch watch British player Harriet Dart play American Christina McHale.

She was joined by players Anne Keothavong and Katie Boulter, and some staff and security in the regular seats at one of Wimbledon's outer courts. She later took her usual seat at Centre Court, in the royal box.

She's long been a huge fan of the game, calling it "a quintessential part of English summer" in 2017. She added, "I was really taken by Agassi and Sampras, Ivanisevic and Steffi Graf. That for me was my first memories."

  • Of course she looked amazing in a white Suzannah shirtdress.

She accessorized the white dress with black buttons down the front with a black Alexander McQueen belt, sunglasses perched atop her head, and classic black pumps. We're not surprised that the stylish mom of three managed to get something from Alexander McQueen in there, as that's her go-to designer.

  • Kate turned heads at last year's Wimbledon when she made her first solo appearance with Meghan Markle.

Less than two months after Meghan became the Duchess of Sussex by marrying Kate's brother-in-law, Prince Harry, the ladies made their debut solo appearance at the famous tennis tournament. There have been rumors of a feud between these these two from the moment Harry confirmed the relationship publicly, but they're hard to believe when we see them enjoying themselves so much in photos like this.

  • Kate is also patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, a duty she took over from Queen Elizabeth in 2016.

The club hosts Wimbledon each year, which is widely regarded as the world's most prestigious tennis competition. The Duchess of Cambridge has been taking over more and more duties from the monarch in recent years, and this one was definitely a perfect fit.
