It's the biggest royal family event of the year! In honor of the queen's birthday, the entire royal family gathers for the Trooping the Colour ceremony, and the 2019 event was certainly a special one. A lot has changed in the last year since Meghan Markle made her Trooping debut as a new duchess. For one, even though Prince Louis had already been born, he didn't make his first balcony appearance until this year ... and boy, he didn't disappoint. The little Cambridge tot was all too excited to wave to all of the onlookers, and he looked oh so cute in his mom and dad's arms. We can't wait to see if carries that enthusiasm over to next year's ceremony.

Secondly, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a little one of their own now! Archie didn't make a balcony appearance this year, but now we have something to look forward to next year.

Yes, there were certainly a lot of changes within the royal family this year, but most of the elements of the Trooping the Colour ceremony stayed the same. Queen Elizabeth looked as regal as ever, and the Cambridge kids ... well no surprise here, the Cambridge kids completely stole the show. Whether it was Prince George's pout, Princess Charlotte adorable waves, or Prince Louis' power stances, all eyes were on the Cambridge kiddos (sorry, Meghan).

Honestly, there were so many good moments from this Trooping the Colour ceremony, that it's almost hard to decide which ones were our favorites ... but we'll give it a try. Here are 20 of the most must-see pictures from the queen's birthday celebration this year. Enjoy!

  • The Return of the Sussexes

It had only been just over a month since Meghan gave birth to little Archie, but it looks like the duchess was ready to get back in the swing of things! She made her first post-baby appearance alongside Prince Harry, and we couldn't think of a better way for her to get back in the spotlight.

It was rumored that Princess Charlotte and Prince George might have gotten to ride in the carriages with the rest of their family, but it looks like they still had to stay back with their younger brother. Don't worry, though ... they still had their balcony moments.

  • 'Be Quiet, Dad'

Move over, Charlotte ... it looks like there's a new boss in the Cambridge family. Prince Louis might only be 1 year old, but he's already telling his dad what to do. Poor William is no match for his three kids.

  • Squashing the Feud

Meghan and Kate just about ended all feud rumors by riding in the same carriage for this year's ceremony. Why Kate never gets to sit next to Prince William during these carriage rides, we'll never know, but at least the two duchesses are on good terms!

  • Power Point

Oof ... we wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of this withering stare. We don't know who Prince Louis was pointing at, but he was certainly determined.

  • Louis the Escapee

The entire Cambridge family looks distracted here, and Prince Louis decided to use this this opportunity to try to escape from his mother's arms. Unfortunately for him, he didn't get far. Better luck next year, Louis!

  • 'Don't Worry, the Star Has Arrived'

As far as Charlotte knows, everyone in that crowd showed up to see her ... and her alone. This little princess certainly knows how to please her fans, and if only George shared some of her enthusiasm.

  • Sisters Together Again

Our favorite pair of royal sisters back together again! Princess Eugenie is still somewhat freshly married, and the wedding glow certainly hasn't left her yet. We don't get to see Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice as often as the others, so it's nice to see them together with the whole family.

  • Playing Nice

It's speculated that Kate and Camilla don't always see eye to eye, but they seemed to be quite chummy during this year's Trooping the Colour ceremony.

  • Not a Fan of Family Events

Little Prince George clearly had better things to do than stand on a balcony with his entire family. He's a young prince ... he probably has a lot of appointments to keep!

    Stay strong, George.

  • Personality Pic

If there was ever a photo to show all of the different personalities of the Cambridge family, this would be it. George looked miserable, while Louis and Charlotte were having a grand time waving to all of their fans.

  • Saying Hi to Grandpa

Remember those adorable photos of Prince Charles bonding with little Louis during the birthday photo shoot? Well ... it looks like all that bonding paid off because Prince Louis couldn't help but give a wave to his doting grandpa.

  • A Nod to Her Wedding

Meghan opted for an all-Ginvenchy ensemble for this year's Trooping the Colour ceremony, which was a lovely nod to one of her wedding dresses. The duchess has worn a lot of royal Givenchy outfits, so this doesn't come as too much of a shock, but it was the perfect choice for her post-baby debut!

  • The Whole Fam

We don't know if it was just us, but it definitely seemed like the balcony was extra full for this year's ceremony. Guess that's what happens when the family is expanding! Hopefully there's room for Archie next year.

  • The Star of the Show

And of course we can't talk about the Trooping the Colour ceremony without talking about the main woman of the hour! This celebration is all for Queen Elizabeth's birthday, after all. This monarch sure knows how to put together an event, that's for sure.

  • 'Oh Look ... My Fans Have Arrived'

Yup ... Prince George made a window appearance before the balcony photo op, too. While Charlotte and Louis were happily waving to all of the onlookers, Prince George had more of a "oh look at all of my royal subjects here to see me" attitude about it. Did we expect anything less from little George? Nope.

  • Learning to Wave

Prince Louis' enthusiastic royal wave was easily the star of the show this weekend, and it's pretty clear that he had been taking some pointers from his older siblings. George and Charlotte are also fans of the two-hand wave. It's also a huge crowd-pleaser.

  • Royal Confusion

    Prince George

This just about sums up Prince George's mood for the entire day. It's the "Do I really have to be here?" look, and we feel you, Georgie. We don't like being forced to attend family functions, either, but unfortunately, this certainly isn't his last Trooping the Colour ceremony.

  • A Duchess in Yellow

    Kate Middleton
    Max Mumby/Indigo

Alright, Kate ... you need to wear yellow more often. The duchess isn't one to shy away from bright colors, but we think this subdued sunny shade was the perfect choice for the queen's birthday celebration. So elegant, and so classy!

  • George Has Left the Building

As if we weren't able to tell before, Prince George was not about being at the Trooping the Colour ceremony. We can't tell if this was a wave bye to his fans or George throwing up his arms in frustration. Whatever it was, George was certainly ready to be back in the comfort of his own home.
