The mystery is over! It's officially official -- Meghan Markle did not have a home birth for baby Archie. Not that we really thought she did, but rumors are rumors, and ever since she declined the traditional royal route of giving birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London, we've been wondering how she would choose to welcome her first child into the world.

  • Archie's birth certificate was released on Friday, revealing his place of birth.

According to the document, Harry and Meghan's first baby was born at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster. It also lists his parents' occupations as prince and princess of the United Kingdom and their home address as Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Archie was born in the early hours of May 6, before the palace even announced that Meghan was in labor. We weren't sure that we'd even get news of the birth at all, after they issued a statement in April saying they had chosen to keep things more private than Prince William and Kate Middleton did after the births of their three children.

The statement said, "Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."

  • Just hours after welcoming his new son, Harry said he was "over the moon" to be a dad.

He told reporters, "As every father and parent will ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I'm just over the moon."

He added that the birth was "the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined," and praised his wife, saying, "It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I'm so incredibly proud of my wife. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension."

  • We totally want to respect Meghan's privacy during this sweet newborn time, but we are dying for more details!

And more photos too. He is such a precious little doll, and Meghan is practically glowing with happiness as a new mom. We're keeping our fingers crossed that they'll decide to release a newborn portrait soon, like Kate and Will did shortly after their babies were born. Maybe even Aunt Kate could take the portraits? That would be amazing.
