Since Britney Spears was released from treatment, we've been wondering what her next move will be. But according to her manager, it might not involve going back on stage ... ever again. We can't imagine a world where Britney never performs again, but it might actually be happening.

  • While talking to TMZ, Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, said she may never go back to performing ever again.

"As the person who guides her career -- based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis -- from what I have gathered, it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency," Larry revealed about the possibility of Britney no longer performing. "Not in the near future and possibly never again."

Whoa. We knew things weren't good for Britney right now, but we had no idea that it was this bad.

  • Larry added that Britney should only perform when she's ready, "physically, mentally, and passionately" -- and she may never be.

"If that time never comes again, it will never come again," Larry added. "I have no desire or ability to make her work again. I am only here for her when she wants to work. And, if she ever does want to work again, I’m here to tell her if it’s a good idea or a bad idea."

He also says that judging by her behavior recently, he doesn't think she's into the idea of going on stage right now at all.

"We had to pull her [Las Vegas residency] because her meds stopped working and she was distraught over her dad’s illness," he notes. "Last summer, when she wanted to tour, she called me every day. She was excited. She hasn't called me in months. Crickets. She clearly doesn't want to perform now."

Britney announced in January that her residency was canceled, following news of her father, Jamie Spears, struggling with his health. Since then, things have only seemed to go downhill ... and we're only getting more and more concerned for her.
  • Hearing this immediately worried fans, prompting Larry to clarify his statement.

As it turns out, Larry was just talking about Britney potentially never returning to her Vegas residency, not never returning to music and performing in general.

"Other media sources seem to be picking up my quotes to TMZ as implying that Britney will never work again. That’s not what I said," Larry told Billboard. "I simply said that the Vegas residency is now officially off and that she hasn’t called me in months to talk about doing anything so I’m not sure if or when she will ever want to work again. It’s that simple."

That makes more sense, but that doesn't mean we're any less worried about Brit.

  • Fans are bummed at the idea that Britney may not be on stage for awhile, but they are supportive of her.

So many comments about the situation have been positive, cheering Britney on. As sad as it is to think that she may never return to her Vegas residency, what's most important right now is her health.

  • We hope that whatever's going on, Britney is okay.

She's strong, and she can get through this -- so we hope she's putting her health first. Performing isn't what matters -- getting better is.

We're cheering Britney on every step of the way.
