With each day that passes without Meghan Markle having given birth, new gossip trickles in about everything from Baby Sussex's gender to Meghan and Harry's parenting style. Today's rumor? Apparently, Meghan wants an American nanny for the littlest royal once he or she arrives, because, after all, she's proud of her heritage.

Talk about a royal first if there ever was one.

  • A source told MirrorOnline that “Meghan and Harry have clear ideas on how to bring up their children."

"Meghan was clear in telling recruiters she favors an American over a Brit and wants them to feel part of the family rather than a uniformed member of staff," the insider revealed. "That is important to her, she’s never hidden the fact she is fiercely proud of her American roots."

The source also added that Harry and Meghan are "keen to explore the possibility of a male nanny.”

  • Meghan wanting a male nanny has been reported in the past, but this is the first we've heard about her wanting the baby's caretaker to be American, as well.

To be fair, although it certainly wouldn't be customary for a royal to have an American nanny, Meghan did completely uproot her life from the US to be with Harry. If she wants her child to have some American influence in his or her life (aside from her), so be it.

  • Whoever Meghan and Harry wind up choosing as their baby's nanny, one thing is for sure: He or she will earn a pretty penny caring for the royal tot.

According to the Express, the royal nanny is expected to receive a salary of more than $90,000 a year -- which, to be frank, sounds about right given the fact that it will likely be a 24/7 job.

The nanny will mainly work from their new home in Windsor, Frogmore Cottage, and will have access to a car to shuttle Baby Sussex around town.

Like Prince William and Kate Middleton's nanny, Maria Teresa Borrallo, the little one's caretaker will likely be bilingual and have serious training under his or her belt.

  • Not surprisingly, rumors about Baby Sussex have run rampant in the past few weeks.

We've heard everything from Meghan wanting to raise her son or daughter as a vegan to the duchess wanting to take a "gender fluid" approach to parenting.

In no time, we'll find out all the juicy details we've been speculating about for so long now. But an American male nanny? We could be into that.
