The plot just keeps thickening in the college admissions scandal. After Felicity Huffman entered a guilty plea last week against the charges against her in exchange for a plea bargain, we've all been wondering what would wind up happening with Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli.

CNN is reporting that as of today, April 15, Lori and Mossimo have entered not guilty pleas to the charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, and have agreed to waive their right to appear in court for an arraignment. Other parents involved in the scandal reportedly also opted to plead not guilty.

  • Given the severity of the situation, the not guilty plea seems a bit bold.

Lori and Mossimo were initially facing jail time of up to 20 years when they were indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud. But then last week, they were hit with new charges of fraud and money laundering, which could have them looking at 40 years behind bars.

Initially a plea deal was offered, which they rejected, and that subsequently led to a federal grand jury indicting them on the new charges.

  • Lori has supposedly been "freaking out" over the idea of serving prison time.

A source reportedly told E! News that Lori has been in "complete denial and thought she could skate by." The source also added, "She refused to accept any jail time and thought the DA was bluffing."

Given the second round of charges that were issued against her, clearly Lori must realize that this is no laughing matter. That being said, it makes us wonder why she and her husband wound up pleading not guilty. Their legal team must have some sort of pretty impressive plan in place.

  • In addition to ruining her career, Lori's relationship with her daughters has been heavily damaged.

Supposedly her younger daughter, Olivia Jade, feels as though her mother ruined her life, and she reportedly never wants to speak to her again.

Time does tend to heal all fences, so hopefully this family can find away to come together and be a source of support to each other, if nothing else. At this point, sticking together might be the only thing that gets them through.
