As the world waits to hear an update about Britney Spears, it's great to see loved ones and those concerned about the pop star rallying around her -- including her ex. Kevin Federline is speaking out about Britney Spears since she voluntarily entered a mental health facility that's pretty great considering these two have been involved in a pretty nasty child support battle. Critics, however, are not buying it as they think he's not being authentic.

  • Britney Spears entered a facility for "all-encompassing wellness treatment" amid reports her father's health is failing.

"Britney just needed to focus on herself," a source tells People about Britney focusing on her emotional health. "Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He's not doing well. They're so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her -- she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself."

The mom of two reportedly checked herself into a facility a week ago and plans to stay there for about a month.

  • And Kevin Federline "commends" her for getting the help she needs.

"Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking reasonable steps to dealing with her situation in a responsible way," Mark Kaplan, Kevin Federline's attorney, tells Entertainment Tonight about Kevin supporting Britney. "He wishes everyone well."

Reportedly, Kevin Federline has their sons -- Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12 -- while she's in treatment.

  • News of Kevin's support is good to hear considering these two have been engulfed in a pretty bad child support battle.

In August, a judge ordered Britney to pay Kevin $110,000 in legal costs and related fees. The background-dancer-turned-DJ had been seeking a bump in the $20,000 a month he receives in child support. After rejecting her camp's initial child support offer, Kevin's lawyer asserted the dad of six deserves "at least three times the amount" he's getting in child support.

In addition to his sons with Britney Spears, Kevin Federline has daughter Kori, 16, and son Kaleb, 14, with ex Shar Jackson, and daughters Jordan, 7, and Peyton, almost 5, with wife Victoria Prince.
  • But that's not stopping people from calling Kevin out for putting Britney through the ringer.

It's safe to say critics think Kevin is too little too late with his sympathy given the back-and-forth this former Hollywood couple endured last year.

  • Looks like folks just aren't trying to hear it.

Regardless of the past drama between Kevin Federline and Britney Spears, what's important now is her health and their children.

We hope she gets the help she needs. Our thoughts are with her family.
